Indoor positioning

The core of each infsoft app is the position determination within closed buildings. This is made possible with the use of the existing WiFi infrastructure in the building. To get a position there must be minimum three access points with a signal strength of minimum 85 db in reach of the smartphone. There is no connection to the access point or internet necessary. The access point only needs to be plugged in.

The current position will be shown in predefined sections within the map. For best accuracy this sections are minimum 50 sqm. This position can be used for a lot of different services indoor navigation or location based marketing. Users can see what happens arround their position within a building.

For individual solutions a position can be shown as accurate as 3m if the local infrastructure makes it necessary. This feature is only available on ANDROID devices for technical reasons. Since iOS 5 it doesn’t allow a better position determination on Apple devices anymore.

Indoor navigation & routing

The so called “route player” is the latest invention from infsoft. It allows a completely new way of navigation for pedestrians. Even without indoor positioning it’s possible to have the current position in view. The orientation within the building is provided by POIs on the the way to the target. If the positioning isn’t available the position can be set easy manually. For calculating a route the start point can be set by POIs. This makes also a travel planning in advance possible. The route player indicates changes of the direction or floor.

GOin calculates within buildings the fastest way to a target of the users choice and show it on an interactive map. Passengers don’t get any more lost on their way to the gate of an airport. Visitors of a trade fair can go straight to the exhibitors they’re interested in. Customers of shopping malls can always keep the overview. Even without position determination it is possible to simulate routes by setting the position manually.

Interactive maps

Interactive maps allow the user to highlight relevant categories and favorised points of interest. Another advantage is the intuitiv way to select points of interest directly within the map. It supports the integrated compass of the device which will align the map on the orientation of the device. There is a very intuitive way to swicht between different floors.

Points of interest (shops, restaurants, services, etc.)

What would be an interactive map without related content? GOin offers a very comfortable way to search or look up POIs. There are several details and categories the user can look through. Every POI can be bookmarked or shared. But the key feature of GOin is again the relation to the interactive map: the user can choose between show in map or navigation to it.

Parking

Many people know this situation: where is my car? Especially in confusing large building structures like airports or shopping malls there are often big and different parking facilities. With GOin every user can store the position of his car in the app with one of the following methods: automatic indoor positioning (if WiFi is available), QR Code on the parking lot, picture of the parking lot or manual insert of the position and floor. On his way home he just let the app navigate him back to his car. In advance the user can see a lot of details about the different rates and how he gets there. Its also possible to show live data about the occupation through a webservice.

There are many solutions on the market where you can see the position of your friends around the world. But there is nothing if you want to catch up a person at a large building complex. With GOin’s Buddy Finder you don’t have to describe any longer your friends or colleagues a meeting place. Just connect each other with the Buddy Finder and GOin will bring you together as fast as possible. Just think about the next time you want to pick somebody up at an airport….

Around Me & On My Way

With one touch the user can see what shops, restaurants, services, etc. are around his current position. This function is already well known outside of closed buildings through GPS technology. But GOin brings not only this feature to the inside. We have developed this concept further: if there is a navigation target defined by the user the on my way function will show up all POIs which are passed on the way to that target.

The innovative GOin technology is not only on mobile platforms available. For integration in websites we have developed an easy to use plugin. It has nearly the same functionality and look & feel like the mobile app except for position determination. It can be controlled with parameters through links on your website. There can be called a single POI directly in the map with one click for example.
